Then cut out a rectangular piece with the dimensions:<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adult Size<\/p><ul><li>Fabric &#8211; 15.5 by 8.5 inches<\/li><li>Elastic \u2013 7 inches (2 pieces)<\/li><li>Earloops &#8211; 27<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Child Size<\/p><ul><li>Fabric &#8211; 13.5 by 6.5 inches<\/li><li>Elastic \u2013 6 inches (2 pieces)<\/li><li>Earloops &#8211; 26<\/li><\/ul><h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>1<sup>st<\/sup> Step: <\/strong>Sew the Top and Create a Pocket<\/h2><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fold your fabric from the long side at the center. And the right sides must face each other during folding. Along the 8.5 inches width, sew the fabric. 3\u20198\u201d seam allowance will do.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, leave a pocket with 3 inches of opening for the filter. Also, ensure the elastic runs between the fabric layers before sewing along the side to secure it in place.<\/p><h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>3<sup>rd<\/sup> Step: <\/strong>Creating the Folds<\/h2><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the mask\u2019s right side out, you can fold the fabric three times. Ensure the folds are evenly spaced. Now pin each pleat to secure it. And thereafter, sew across the pleats from the top of the fabric to the bottom. This should hold them in place. For reference, you can make 1\/2inch pleats. Most importantly, arrange the pleats to face the same direction.<\/p><h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>4<sup>th<\/sup> Step:<\/strong> Complete Surgical Mask<\/h2><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By the time you finish with the folds, your mask should be around 3.7 inches in height. And when wearing the mask, ensure the pleats are facing downward.
